It&#8217;s a really fun and inspiring show.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/svmedaris.com\/2013art\/corvus_corax.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/svmedaris.com\/2013art\/corvus_corax.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"auto\" alt=\"woodcut of raven by S.V. Medaris  &bull;  22in x 22in &bull;  reduction woodcut<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n<p>There is some fantastic work in this show&#8230;. Specifically, ceramic crows by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/RyanMyersCeramics\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ryan Myers<\/strong><\/a>, a gorgeous silver point by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schultzdrawings.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Robert Schultz<\/strong><\/a>, another beautiful woodcut by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nickwroblewski.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Nick Wroblewski<\/strong><\/a>, exquisite paintings by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kellihoppmann.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Kelli Hoppmann<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.artisangal.com\/jonathan-wilde.php\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jonathan Wilde<\/strong><\/a>, and the list goes on&#8230;. Check it out tonight at the opening reception (and through Feb 24th). There is a preview of some of the work on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo.php?fbid=523254827708259&amp;set=a.523254764374932.122284.108670179166728&amp;type=1&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Artisan&#8217;s Facebook Page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This raven above (yes ravens were allowed in the show&#8211;yes, I asked before I even started planning this one out) was modeled after some great taxidermied ravens at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoology.wisc.edu\/uwzm\/useeducation.html\" target=\"_blank\">UW-Madison Zoology Museum<\/a>. The &#8220;tastes like chicken&#8221; text in the print? You&#8217;ll see that the raven at lower left is snacking on a dead chicken. One of the biggest food sources for ravens is carrion&#8211;I see crows more often than vultures out here in the middle of nowhere, on a rural road, working on road-kill. I&#8217;m sure if any raccoon or coyote or possum or hawk or owl (&#8230;) was insane enough to leave part of a juicy chicken lying about, a raven would finish it up sooner than later.
