Just got the email that my piece Taliesin Goose<\/em><\/a> made into Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum<\/a>‘s 2014 Birds in Art<\/a> show! I’m beside myself with the thrill and honor of it. And it’s always a surprise\u2014this is the 4th time I’ve made it in the show out of 13 attempts<\/strong>.

A tough, juried show<\/h3>\n

And below, are the JURORS who selected this year’s artwork. Why is this important to mention? Because it’s the jurors who decide, and every year they are different. It is truly the luck of the draw in terms of the members of that select group who like your work enough to jury it into the show. I know this especially now, because last year I entered Taliesin Goose<\/em>, and it didn’t get in. This year it did. Seriously, it’s totally up to the jury. Here’s the Museum’s statement (and I am truly honored that they juried the Goose in!): <\/p>\n

Jurors Nina Z. Gormley (executive director and curator, Wendell Gilley Museum, Southwest Harbor, Maine), Robert B. Pickering (director of curatorial affairs and public programs, Gilcrease Museum, Tulsa, Oklahoma), and Laurie Winters (executive director, Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend) spent a productive day reviewing 910 entries submitted by 564 artists before heading into the final round to select one work each by 92 artists.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
